Hard Run-Good Day

Today’s run was much better than yesterday in that I actually got out the door by 7:26. Next long run, I will shoot for 7:00 or earlier! The heat here on the coast can be really daunting after that! Even though I ran a little slower than yesterday, I felt really good about completing 60 full minutes. My legs were a little gone because of yesterday’s run, but overall it was an accomplishment. I think it’s so funny how I already have begun to think of food as fuel…not just pleasure! That’s definitley a first for me. If people refuel on sports gels, gummies and the likes…where do they put them during their run? I would like to know that. More than 60 minutes, and I will have to refuel on something. I was already started to get chill bumps on my arms. Oh well, I will do a little “runner’s research” and see what I come up with.

The Late Bird Gets HOT!

Today was a lesson for me that 8:00 am on the coast of North Carolina is WAY TOO LATE to start. The heat index was already near 90 degress with high humidity! Besides, I woke up this morning and decided that by December 6, 2008, I wanted to run a half-marathon…at 43 years old! I think it is a doable goal, plus it will motivate me to take my running to the next level. Tomorrow, I will start around 7:00 am and have a much better time! I am ready to start training!
