When Training Becomes a Yawn

I’m finding it harder and harder to stay “up” about my training; my days as a mom, school volunteer, and job are squeezing out most of my energy! I am continuing on with my runs, trying to get ready for the first half marathon which is around the first of November. I’m sure it is normal to go through ups/downs and time crunches. I will press on and finish well! I think I need to start making much better food choices; much less sugar! (Did I mention how much I loooooove sugar?) Wake up!

It is so hard as a mom to put “yourself” into the equation! I so looked forward to the children getting bak into their Fall routines but then I forgot about the amount of obligation and time it took from me. I have found that my motivation to run decreases and my ability to say “later” or “no time today” increases. Today though, I have scheduled myself to run in the morning on the mill. You have to schedule yourself as though you are scheduling your children. You also have to know how to say “no” when people try to get you to commit your time if you know it will take “you” time away. Keep up the good work!

Yes it is normal to go through ups/downs. However, you are a mother and your children are being molded by your examples. If you feel squeezed, make the right choices. Remember, you are indispensable unitl you say no.
